This is a drawing of a Japanese couple 'manga-fied' for my animation project research and development. Their costume and pose is taken from an ancient Japanese print, but their faces are obviously different in style. This took absolutely AGES to draw and colour because of all the detail on their clothes. I am pleased with it though, despite their blank looking expressions, but it was more about the clothes for me with this drawing.
I have added this now because I am unlikely to be able to draw for 'fun' as I am pretty bogged down with my animation project. Hopefully the next thing I post here is a link to my finished animation on youtube!
Drawn in pencil, outlined in fineliner, coloured with copic markers. Background and touch ups in Paint Shop Pro.
The attention to detail on the kimonos in this piece, is quite impressive. I do like this piece, but I think it would have been better complemented by a background showing their surroundings (to match the level of detail in the kimonos).

Feel free to draw a background Ryan, I however, can not be arsed. The kimonos were bad enough, never mind some beautiful Japanese scenery to boot! I feel a detailed background whould distract from the characters anyway.
Well I don't know, I think if you are going to put a lot of time into a piece like this, then it should be complemented by an equal amount of thought for the background. You know, I might do a background for it. Then I shall name you silly sausage for a week
